GUANYIN ORACLE LOT 63
Nuwa Refines Stones
Searching the sea for a needle costs labor and heart. The gain may not be worth the loss, so letting go is allowed.
ORACLE VERSE
Translated verse
Long ago, while sailing, a needle was lost.
Today you still search the sea for it.
Even if the original needle is found,
it will cost much labor and much worry.
Original Chinese verse
昔然行船失了针，今朝依旧海中寻； 若然寻得原针在，也费工夫也费心。
ALLUSION
Story allusion
In ancient myth, the sky broke, the earth split, floods and fires spread, and beasts harmed people. Nuwa refined five-colored stones to mend the sky, cut the legs of a giant turtle to support the four poles, killed the black dragon, and used reed ash to control floods. Her work restored order and became one of the great civilizing myths of China.
