GUANYIN ORACLE LOT 64
Water Spilled Before the Horse
Spilled water is hard to gather again. The difficulty is hard to escape, the larger trend has gone, and reversal is unlikely.
ORACLE VERSE
Translated verse
A swimming fish is in a blue-green pond,
but suddenly nets surround it on all sides.
Thinking hard, it finds no way to turn and escape.
In the end the matter brings trouble and blame.
Original Chinese verse
游鱼却在碧波池，撞遭罗网四边围； 思量无计翻身出，事到头来惹事非。
ALLUSION
Story allusion
Zhu Maichen of Han lived in poverty with his wife, who left him because she despised his hardship. Later he became governor of Kuaiji. His former wife regretted leaving and asked to reunite. Zhu poured a bucket of water onto the steps and said that if the water could be gathered again, they could reunite. The phrase "spilled water cannot be recovered" came to mean that some bonds cannot be restored.
